Sarah V. Wood is an attorney in the Harris County Public Defender’s Office and is board-certified in Criminal Appellate Law. She developed and administers several prominent criminal defense training programs. The Future Appointed Counsel Training (FACT) Program is a highly competitive, nationally recognized program that sends young lawyers in private practice to the institute at Gideon’s Promise and works with them locally to become strong defenders of indigent clients. The Texas Indigent Defense Commission has recently approved a state-wide expansion of this program. Sarah also created and administers the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association’s Second Chair Program, an all-volunteer project that partners young criminal defense lawyers with more experienced mentors. Additionally, Sarah manages the PDO’s educational internship program, which attracts law students from all over the country.
