Richard M. Klein is senior managing attorney of the Wilmington Office of Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. (LANC) and southeast regional manager of LANC. He is co-chair of the LANC Employment Law Practice Group and the Employment Law Taskforce. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1966 with a BS in Management Science and from Fordham Law School in 1969. He was a Reginald Heber Smith Fellow in 1969-1972 and worked as a staff attorney and deputy director for legal services programs in Wisconsin in 1969-1978. He was litigation director of Legal Services of North Carolina in 1978-1983 and executive director of Farmworkers Legal Services of North Carolina in 1983-1985. He has worked in the LANC-Wilmington Office since 1985. He specializes in employment law, housing law, and education law. He has litigated class actions in federal and state court and has served as a trainer on employment law and litigation. He is currently working on various hurricane related legal issues. He is licensed to practice in New York, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
