Nikole Nelson is the executive director of Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC), Alaska’s only statewide provider of free civil legal assistance to low-income Alaskans. Nikole oversees ALSC’s 12 offices and six Medical-Legal Partnerships and a staff of more than 60 scattered across the vast and remote State of Alaska – proudly home to 229 tribes. Nikole joined ALSC in 1998 as a staff attorney shortly after graduating from Willamette University College of Law and became ALSC’s executive director in 2010. Throughout her career, Nikole’s advocacy has focused on empowering marginalized people and remote communities to access and use the law as a means of assuring basic human needs are met. She is a member of the Alaska Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Access to Civil Justice, the Alaska Bar Association’s Pro Bono Services Committee.
