Miriam Camero

For the last two years, Miriam Camero has been a case manager for RAICES. Up until May 2018, Miriam was the only staff member for RAICES Houston and had been local point of contact through the travel ban, challenges to DACA, Hurricane Harvey, and zero tolerance. Miriam attended the University of Texas at Austin for her BSW in Social Work, B.A. in Philosophy, and MSW in Clinical Social Work. Miriam also received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. She was a recipient of the Gates Millennium Scholarship and first became active in the immigrant community through her field placement at Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid in Austin, where she served as the first social work intern at the University of Texas Immigration and Domestic Violence Clinic. Miriam is originally from Laredo, Texas, and is a proud daughter of two Mexican immigrants.
