Michelle Lapointe is a senior attorney at the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Immigrant Justice Project. Michelle began her legal career at SPLC in 2008. Over the past decade, she has represented thousands of immigrants in federal civil rights and employment litigation in the Deep South. Her cases have included constitutional litigation on behalf of immigrants and their children against state officials for civil rights violations; challenges to anti-immigrant statutes in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina; and class action lawsuits against major employers of guest workers for wage violations. Michelle earned a law degree from American University Washington College of Law, where she was a Public Interest/Public Service Scholar, and a B.A. from Wellesley College.
