Kim Ball joined the Justice Programs Office (JPO) in 2016 after spending 17 years at the U.S. Department of Justice. Kim is a nationally recognized and accomplished criminal justice strategist known for seeing all the moving parts and putting them together for successful social change. Her successes include reform efforts in pretrial justice, problem-solving courts, prosecutor diversion, early appointment of defense counsel, and procedural fairness training, which led to fairer and more effective state and local courts that have been models for national replication. She is skilled at applying research to practice in local and state criminal justice systems across the country and has a proven record of accomplishment in collaboration leading to productive, long-lasting relationships among friends and unlikely allies. She is an impassioned leader skilled at program development and capacity building and is proud to be from the state of Arkansas.
