Jonathan Rapping is the founder and president of Gideon’s Promise, an organization dedicated to training and supporting public defenders in an effort to build a movement to transform criminal justice in America. He is also a law professor at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. He began his career as a public defender in Washington, D.C., before joining efforts to reform public defense in Georgia and New Orleans. In 2014, he was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in recognition of his work.
