Joann Lee is a special counsel at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA). Bilingual in Korean and English, Joann has provided direct legal services to the growing Asian and Pacific Islander immigrant population in the Los Angeles area since 2000. She has practiced family and immigration law, with a focus on representing domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking survivors before the family and immigration courts, as well as other administrative bodies. Joann coordinates LAFLA’s internal language justice work and has also filed administrative complaints and litigation based on state and federal civil rights requirements to obtain meaningful language services for clients. Joann was appointed to the California Judicial Council Language Access Plan Implementation Task Force and has also served on the boards of the Korean American Bar Association, Korean Resource Center, and the Center for the Pacific Asian Family.
