Associate Supervising Attorney for Medical-Legal Partnerships
Pacoima, California
Gerson Sorto is an Associate Supervising Attorney with Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County overseeing the program’s five Medical Legal Community Partnerships (MLCPs). He has led NLSLA’s efforts as the lead agency implementing the “MLCP–LA” project with the LA County Department of Health Services. Through the Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program at USC MLCP (AYA@USC), Gerson helps cancer patients between the ages of 15 and 39 to resolve the broad spectrum of individual and systemic legal barriers that keep them from focusing on cancer recovery.

As a part of NLSLA’s Health Consumer Center, Gerson strives to ensure that Los Angeles County residents have meaningful access to all necessary healthcare. His primary focus is on matters involving Covered California, California’s healthcare exchange, tax issues stemming from the Affordable Care Act, and county safety net health programs. He earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
