Anne K. Sweeney is managing attorney for community engagement at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. Anne works with community groups, partner organizations, and staff on equitable community economic development, outreach and education, community lawyering, client support services, and advocacy for vulnerable populations. She has presented at the Shriver Center Community Lawyering Training, NLADA Litigation and Advocacy Leaders Conference, the NLADA Annual Conference, and the Cuyahoga County Conference on Social Welfare. Anne regularly trains non-attorney providers on navigating the civil legal system. She has also chaired Legal Aid’s Ethics Committee since 2012. Anne joined Legal Aid in 2004 as a general practitioner, then-specializing in housing, before starting the client support services program in 2009 and assuming her current responsibilities in 2012. She received her JD and MSSW from the University of Wisconsin and her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. She is also a licensed independent social worker.
