During the last two years, legal aid organizations were thrust into the spotlight by multiple events, including massive hurricanes and raging fires, attempts to eliminate LSC, family separation, and even the release of national eviction rankings. Each created an opportunity to influence media coverage on a range of issues and gave the nation a glimpse into the extraordinary work that attorneys do every day. The next opportunity or crisis could be just around the corner. Does your organization have a plan ready to effectively respond to sudden, urgent interest from reporters? Do you have a plan for managing potentially negative coverage? This workshop brings together media experts and experienced advocates to offer practical advice about crisis communication and what you need to be prepared for your media moment.
