Don't Leave Money on the Table: Diversifying Funding and Building a Comprehensive Fundraising Plan

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

With the uncertainty of any single funding source, it is important to have a fundraising plan that considers various types of funding sources and methods of reaching those sources. In this session, I will briefly present the process that Prairie State Legal Services underwent to restructure its Development Team and the importance of having a written fundraising plan. Then I will facilitate a brainstorming session to create a list of potential fundraising sources (cy pres awards, corporations, individuals, family foundations, government funding, etc.) and methods for acquiring those sources (email marketing, social media, corporate presentations, education). We will discuss the donor cultivation process and how generational differences affect the effectiveness of fundraising methods. Finally, attendees will be provided samples of fundraising plans and will take initial steps to putting the information gathered into a unique fundraising plan for the attendee's use. I will also provide attendees with a list of resources that I have found useful for increasing my knowledge and skills in various areas of fundraising.
