This year’s conference includes a special focus on Racial Justice, Diversity, and Inclusion Programming. Workshops that will address this overarching theme include [RJ] after the session title.
Pretrial reform is accelerating across the country. Defenders can and should engage with these efforts to ensure that reforms are effective, fair, and equitable. The Defender Caucus will feature a forum through which attendees will identify the common components of pretrial reform, such as counsel at first appearance, pretrial supervision, risk assessment instruments, and others. This will be an interactive discussion about the issues and opportunities public defenders associate with these components.
