David Udell is Founder and Executive Director of the National Center for Access to Justice, ncforaj.org, a research and policy organization based at Fordham Law School that relies on data and advocacy to build a more just and equitable society. David guides NCAJ’s initiatives, including: i) the Justice Index, justiceindex.org, using technology and data to promote best polices for access to justice, including best policies for controlling excessive governmental reliance on fines and fees; ii) the A2J Summit Collection, publishing articles from leading reformers on the access to justice movement; iii) the Tracking Outcomes Guide, describing best practices for providers and funders to document civil legal aid outcomes; and iv) a National Science Foundation Workshop engaging social scientists from diverse disciplines to grow the field of access to justice research. David is a co-director of the school-wide A2J Initiative at Fordham Law School. He has served as Founder and Executive Director of the Justice Program of the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law School; Senior Attorney at Legal Services for the Elderly (NYC); and Managing Attorney at Mobilization for Justice (NYC).
