Anne K. Sweeney is managing attorney for community engagement at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. Anne works with community groups, partner organizations, and staff on community lawyering, outreach and education, training, social work, and advocacy for vulnerable populations. She has presented at the Cuyahoga County Conference on Social Welfare, the Shriver Center Community Lawyering Training, the NLADA Litigation and Advocacy Leaders Conference, and the NLADA Annual Conference. Anne regularly trains non-attorney providers on navigating the civil legal system. She has also chaired Legal Aid’s Ethics Committee since 2012. Anne joined Legal Aid in 2004 as a general practitioner, then specialized in housing, before starting the social work program in 2009 and assuming her current responsibilities in 2012. She received her J.D. and MSSW from the University of Wisconsin and her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. She is also a licensed independent social worker.
